The Board of Education will admit to this district children otherwise eligible by law or Board policy who have attained the age requirements set by law and this Board of Education.  The Board requires documentary verification of the age and birthdate of any child for whom admission to this district is sought.

Pre-School

Any child residing in the district shall be admitted to pre-school provided:

  1.  The child will have attained the age of three years on or before October 1, of the school year
 
     2.  Proof shall be furnished of immunization against the communicable diseases at the time of enrollment or such immunization shall be completed within forty days from date of entry into school; and
 
     3.  The child shall have been examined by either the school or private physician, and the results shall be furnished to the school on the form provided.

 

Kindergarten

  1.  Any child residing in the district shall be admitted to kindergarten provided:

          a.  The child will have attained the age of five on or before October 1 of that school year;

          b.  Proof shall be furnished of immunization against the communicable diseases at the time of enrollment or such immunization shall be completed within thirty days from date of entry into school; and

          c.  The child shall have been examined by either the school or private physician, and the results shall be furnished to the school on the form provided.

Grade One

Any child residing in the district shall be admitted to grade one provided:

         1.  The child will have attained the age of six years on or before October 1, of that school year;

         2.   He/she has been in the first grade in another public school;

         3.   He/she has completed Kindergarten in a public school and been recommended for placement in the first grade; and 

         4.    Proof has been furnished of immunization against communicable diseases.

 Transfers Into Grades Two Through Twelve

         Pupils transferring into the district are expected to present copies of records from the previously attended school (or district) to aid in placement.  Also required are proof of immunization and proof of identity such as a birth certificate, social security card, etc.

         Within the time prescribed by law, the Superintendent shall request in writing from the school or district of previous attendance the pupil's records.

          Initial placement shall be made on the basis of the records, but adjustment may be made at the discretion of the administration when the State-mandated assessment indicates that such adjustments would be beneficial to the child.  Parent(s) or legal guardian(s) shall be informed of this policy on registration.  The Board reserves the right to adjust grade placement for students who have previously been enrolled in a different school system or who demonstrate unusual levels of academic achievement, developmental ability, or unique educational needs, per N.J.S.A. 18A:38-6 and N.J.A.C. 6A:14-3.3.

Pupils Completing Year at Former School

Pupils who establish residency during the school year may be permitted to complete that year in their former school if:

        1.    The Board of Education of that school agrees;
 
        2.    There is no cost for tuition involving this Board of Education; and
 
        3.     There is no transportation cost involving this Board of Education.

 

Pupils Completing School Year in This School District

Children of parent(s) or legal guardian(s) giving up residence in the district during a school year may complete that school year in this school district provided:

  1.  The Board of Education agrees;

      2. There is no cost for transportation involving this district;

  1.   A prorated tuition is paid to this Board of Education from the date residency in this township is terminated;   except

     4.  No tuition shall be charged when residency is terminated with fewer than thirty days remaining in the school year.

The mere owning of any property whatsoever does not qualify a parent(s) or legal guardian(s) to send children to school in this school district.

Affidavit Pupils

When there is any doubt as to whether a child is entitled to free public education in the district schools, all procedures of the law shall be followed.
