Elena City High School I love all your choices from sandwiches to Pizza you did a good job this year you getting something that's frozen defensive go for a lot more fresh vegetables and it's good for me because I'm still able to apply what I learned in school and bring something nice to show to the kids Board of Education who is very supportive of providing our students with all the opportunities my names chai Romero and play I participated in the Hudson County Science Fair competition and my topic was environmental sciences and because of this topic I was able to get a gold medal in the competition however all of this would not impossible with the means that I had access to in the lab at home and especially in school hello my name is Christian Flores and I am a 7th grader here at Woodrow Wilson School and this is my science fair project gratefully I was able to win first place at the Hudson County science fair I'm basically use Microsoft Word PowerPoint Excel for the glass end of the internet and have been doing a great job incorporating lessons for calendar activities again reading math language arts science and social studies educator is my duty to continue to create an enhanced Ritter education to all the music I honestly can't teach without a Smartboard we use it in language arts music and reading writing music how do I read in our math or science the students do a lot of interactive work they come up to the board for able to show what they want to do on the board rather than sitting up there just constantly our children in technology with iPads for their smart boards to visualize and men have Interactive Learning in the classroom Henry Danger The Union City a wonderful thing for children receiving in his fielding and promise. as I always said and I Echo where do I go throughout Union City in the state of New Jersey that the urban child when given the resources and the opportunity will well the Board of Education wanted to sort of reinvest in a facilities Department because we have a lot of new facilities we have some equipment that we've had throughout the years but this should we try to make an effort to try to provide a number of improvements this piece of equipment behind you is one of our favorites and sits out who was peace and it's a snow melter decided to come up with a student Sanctuary Sanctuary being a very special place where people come and relax dream I love the most about this project is that it captures the essence of you City High School students of the staff of who we are and what we're about for the past six seven months since we've been in school and I think they're very important for students because they actually know what to do in case of a crisis tell me if you need me with the Advent of of handheld radios it's just a tremendous asset as far as communication as far as secure and anything else that you could possibly imagine  so very excited about the future of Union City Schools looks like a very very bright future the future of the unity School District date of condensed continues to be creative to meet the needs of all our students so much to be Union City Board of Education 2013-14 school budget it's my pleasure and an honor for me to make this presentation to you today my name is Anthony Dragona on the school business administrator Ford secretary the Union City Board of Education  Union City is a very densely populated thriving urban community with a population of over 75,000 in 1.4 square miles  Union City Board of Education Services over 11,000 students in addition to 1700 three and four-year-old who would our preschool instruction since we are a type 1 School District we have a board of school estimate today I would like to welcome the members of the board of school estimate may and Brian stack Commission Sheila Rivas commissioner saline Valdivia the vice president of the Union City Board of Education Alicia Morejon Rusty Johnny Garces  today I would like to explain to you how I budget for the 2013-14 school year was developed this process began early in the school year as we asked our schools and have departments to begin to analyze and assess their needs on how we could provide better service to our students how staff parents and the community though request become known as Appropriations after the Appropriations are gathered compiled and tallied we then wait our revenue revenue comes to our district in the form of local taxes state and federal funding usually grants  this budget will allow for sustained academic progress Union City is highly recognized as a high-performing Urban School District  superkilen alignment and enhancements that reflect instructional practices we will continue to provide sound education for students from three year olds and up preschool throughout the Heights and 4 hour adult education program through the use of state-of-the-art Technology lessons can be prepared by well-trained dedicated and very talented teachers in our district will continue to May pain I will Vision toward the future  a quick snapshot of a budget reveals an increase in state aid 1.9% or 3351000 dollars and it to that preschool lead increase about a million $26,000  Ella per pupil spending is 17. $75 per student when we begin to look at Natalie's out enrollment we is that we've had a steady increase in a student population over the past four years with an increase of about 1100 students during that time I'll projected increase in enrollment for next year is 385 additional students some of the highlights of the budget  are the fact that school-based budgets are in effect in all of our schools as well as central office where the process is mirrored thus allowing teachers administrative teams and District Department supervisors and directors to get a keen understanding and insight as to the impact are there spending upon the educational progress and achievement of our students  as a result of the health reform legislation of 2011 in next year's budget the employee contribution towards health benefits will equal 4 million $218,000 in addition next year's budget Provo is 6.8 million dollars for capital projects  the revenue that supports next year's budget comes from the following state aid at 84% Federal Aid at 4.6% local tax revenue 6.3%  fun balance 4.5% and capital reserve 2.4 set  the good news is that while this budget continues to provide exciting and challenging opportunities for our students the contribution towards this budget from the local tax levy remains stable as it has for over the past 10 years  this chart will clearly demonstrate  the various sources of revenue over the past six years and how they have contributed to our District budget on the appropriation light of the budget there are three areas school-based budgets account for 112 million dollars 99 million dollars in the Early Childhood Program 32 million dollars resources are allocated to reprocess which I call physical congruence turn on Lida we place the resources behind the programs but we also Mom to the outcomes things such as data-driven decision-making using disaggregation of data administration of the common core standards 8-week assessments State stand that I testing and improves educational climate through facility Improvement and parental involvement or for our students the best oportunity for success  there are many exciting things on the horizon here at the City Board of Education Union City High School the student sign Troy will be opening in June  Hudson School renovation Edition which is scheduled for completion by September of 2014 Central oysterage in distribution of supplies and materials at our new facility at 2nd and Kennedy Boulevard the Gilmore School renovation and addition is scheduled for completion by 2015 our check GE infrastructure will be enhanced by the installation of the Union City Board of Education Zone fiber optic Network  School Safety and Security you remain one of our priorities video surveillance systems and door access controls will be installed in all of our schools with an intended completion by the end of the summer  cafeteria and kitchen renovations will be taking place at both middle school and Union Hill Middle School  this is truly an exciting time to be a of the Union City Board of Education  thank
