Welcome to the Union City Professional Learning page where professional learning is a pathway to student success.

 

The Union City Board of Education is committed to provide, promote, and monitor high quality professional development that is comprised of professional learning opportunities aligned with State, school district and school level goals with the primary focus on student achievement and success. A district professional development/learning cadre in collaboration with each School Improvement Panel (ScIP) develops and implements professional development plans that align with the TEACHNJ Act, are rich in content, and broaden the knowledge and skills of teachers, administrators, and Educational Support Personnel (ESP) in grades pre kindergarten through adult.

 

District Evaluation Advisory/Professional Learning Community Committee

 

Leveraged in the school district, school level, and individual instructional professional development plans are the New Jersey Professional Standards for Teachers, the New Jersey Professional Standards for School Leaders, data analysis, shared decision-making, focused planning, deliberate alignment of learning goals and professional learning goals, researched-based practices, and evaluation through progress monitoring. Professional learning opportunities are sustained and supported through job-embedded coaching, external expert assistance, post secondary courses, workshops, conferences, and digital online resources.
